First experiment of 18-XXI.
Part of the Chantiers d’Europe programme 2018.
David Lescot, writer, director, musician, actor, and associate artist of the Théâtre de la Ville, is leading the first experiment of 18-XXI, bringing together 9 young people who turned 18 in 2018 via a lecture and writing workshop series.
“How would you describe yourself? What words would you use? What sort of language? What tone? Why and how do you speak up? What sort of expectations are you trying to fulfil? What areas of life does this apply to?… These are the questions which inspired their writing.”

Shirley – I think, it’s something a little bit fluid, I’m like a kind of eel slaloming and digging…
Lucas – I think it with pillars that accumulate to form a kind of a thing.
Alice – Yes it’s like Legos. We take a lot of different pieces and when we assemble them, they form this thing.
Val – Or more like a huge snowball that gets bigger by gathering all these things on its way.
Erwan – For me people are more like a big spreadsheet where the column is a person and the cells would be the common assumptions and this thing would be the one coming demolishing it all.
Ilonah – It’s more like an obstacle course. Depending on our way of avoiding them, they change our speed or our direction. It’s like making a choice: jumping, going under them or taking them right in the face. Depending on our choice, this might change our path.
Erwan – A kind of a collection of objects that we post on a wall.
Agathe – Or even some masks that we put on and off throughout our life.
